The advantage of Miscalculation is that it's never a dead card. Even in mid/long game, it can be cycled. Mana Leak or other similar countermagic are dead cards in long games.

This is a pretty decent counterspell. It's comparable to Mana Leak, although better late game. I'm surprised that this card doesn't see more play, honestly.
