This card is better than slight of mind for the same cost and lets you make landwalkers you control unblockable as well as leting you change protection effects on the fly and many other uses. I think this card is way underated.

Anyone who doesn't see the potential in this card is clearly not looking at a whole lot of Magic cards, lol. There are TONS of possibilities with this guy. Pull up virtually any "screw this color" card and go to work.

Conversion
Lifeforce
Deathgrip

The amazing thing about this card is that it can be used defensively. Playing a blue deck against a mono-white that has Crusade out on the table? No problem, all of your creatures are now at +1/+1 Then he can waste a disenchant on his own spell, hahaha.

4/5

Might as well be auto-win with Drought. Against black players, change "swamp" to any other land type they don't run. Against non-black players, change "black" to their mana symbol and watch them weep as they find themselves unable to sacrifice swamps to cast their non-black spells.

There's a small percentage of decks this combo won't completely ruin. Things that splash black. And Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. And 5-CC/Domain decks that run lots of basic lands. But even then you can fix the problem with a second Mind Bend.

@ wataame: Whim of Volrath is EOT with a buyback cost of 2, and this is an indefinite effect. Neither is strictly better.

@Name_Lable47

If a land has a type, that defines what mana it can produce. Example: look at any of the Ravnica Dual lands. They aren't basic lands but have land types. The "add X or Y to your mana pool" only appears as reminder text to tell you what they produce. Another example would be Murmuring Bosk, which is a forest, but with some extra abilities.

If you have a question like this, usually it's a good idea to read the rulings of the card first. Often your question will be addressed (as it is with this card).

Hilarious card. I also love the artwork.

Once chose "Island" when my buddy had Koth of the Hammer in play. He was ***ed.

@zachpoo
In Magic, the lack of a color (colorless) is not a valid option when color choices come up. Just like how "Protection from all colors" will not stop artifact sources. It's kind of like choosing 'clear' as your favorite color, it doesn't make much sense.

@Name_Lable47
You need only to check the rulings on the first page:
10/4/2004 It can be used to change a land's type from one basic land type to another. For example, a Forest can be changed to an Island so it produces blue mana.

But! It will still be NAMED Forest (or in your example, Mountain):
10/4/2004 You can't change proper nouns (i.e. card names) such as "Island Fish Jasconius".

I built my wife a deck that has this, Deepchannel Mentor, and Day of the Dragons. Either play Mind Bend on Day (instead of X 5/5 red dragons, you have X 5/5 blue dragons), then play Mentor, or play Day, then Mentor, and Mind Bend on Mentor (instead of blue creatures you control being unblockable, it's red creatures that are).

I also threw in a Hivestone, with a couple Winged and Shifting Slivers. Absolutely a casual play deck, but hell, she's just learning. LOL.
