With all the awesome rares in the set, this POS just had to be the one I pulled from my first Tempest booster.

Could maybe be playable in a casual type deck with some blue mana acceleration (Apprentice Wizard?) and/or something that can give an opponent an island to walk (Reef Shaman?)

Considering the limited options for fellow Islandwalking creatures, I'd think Stormtide Leviathan approves mightily. Factor that with a potential third turn Polymorph on a Kraken Hatchling after you've done some Spreading Seas, and now my Leviathan/ Kraken deck is a viable force. All you haters can go suck it.

Although it's obviously not a good card and arguably it's a bad card, it isn't junk at all.

You could happily play this in any number of casual decks, so don't act like it's wood elemental

Reasons why this card sucks: 1.The mana cost is way too much for a 7/6, 2.It's only ability is islandwalk, 3.It's rare; it should've been uncommon.

A prime example of the "Bad Old Days" of Magic's Core Sets. They went through a phase, starting around 5th Edition and ending I think around 8th or 9th where nearly every good, classical, and powerful card was stripped out of the core set and was replaced with underpowerd and overcosted junk instead. Things like Trained Orgg, Vizzidrex (or however you spell that stupid blue 6/6 for 6U that was supposed to "replace" the Mahamoti Djinn), and so on. This underpowered lump of lame is an example of this line of thinking - the core set was supposed to be weak since somehow weak cards were "good" for new players. Right...

Compare to Inkwell Leviathan and cry a bit that this card was ever printed.
