@Champion Kitsune: Lorwyn was the classic, Disney fairy tale. Snow White and the Seven Dwarves- and the wicked witch with her tempting apple. It was Hansel and Gretel- with the witch in the gingerbread house. Every fairy tale has to have a villain- but they were never really SCARY villains. They may cackle and plot, but they're not really horrifying. Just some bad people. This Witch is the witch in the forest. The one with the gingerbread house. The one that will probably want to bake you into a pie, but can get outsmarted by children, no less.
Shadowmoor, conversely, was a Grimm brothers fairy tale. If you haven't heard of those, they were the original tales of Snow White, Cinerella, and so forth- before disney got a hold of them. These were considerably more... well, grim. They were dark and often violent. Often, the happy ending simply doesn't exist (See the original Little Mermaid). I agree, creative dropped the ball on this one...art, concept, and flavor text is awesome, just not Lorwyn.
