The early sets boasted a LOT of land destruction in almost every color, from Armageddon to Stone Rain, this card, Sinkhole, and of course Strip Mine. Mudbutt_on is exactly right that this is particularly devastating in green, because there is a very high chance that this will be cast off of Birds of Paradise or Llanowar Elves, potentially crippling an opponent's early game strategy and setting them behind.

Better than Stone Rain for the simple fact that green has so many 1 drop mana elves you can reliably cast this on the 2nd turn.

Wow! This is colorshifted. It should have been reprinted in future sight or something.
