As everyone has already said, better than act of treason in a mono-red deck. Worst comes to worst you pump up your own creature and waste 2 mana for an expensive firebreathing sorcery. I imagine it would be fun against infect, or at least wither. Maybe Wee Dragonauts/Kiln Fiend could enjoy it as well.

Indeed a great Threaten/Act of Treason alternative in a mono-colored deck.
It could even find use as Enrage only if you have a hardly avoidable creature that can finish the game this way.

Ah I don't think comparing it to threaten/act of treason is a fair example. Lets say your opponent has a 3/3 drake or something, basically anything 3/3 with flying, and you got 6 mana. Not to unreasonable, and unless the game is vs. aggro and is decided quickly, you are likely to have that much during a game. If your opponent has no other flying creatures, you could snatch their creature, and hit them with it for 6 without being blocked. Also works the same way if your opponent has just attacked with everything guessing you can't counter attack and then play this on one of their big creatures.
The best thing about it is that x can be 0, you don't have to increase its attack power if you don't want to, but it still gives you the option of doing so late game when you don't have the mana. Grab the reigns is arguably better, but then mirrodin is about to rotate out of extended.

It's a cool concept, I think I'll keep it in my deck, but, not buy extras. Could be useful in certain scenarios.
