Good old Spore Cloud is a forgotten Fog variant which deserves more respect. Perhaps not as powerful and flexible as Moment's Peace but it shuts down the current and the next attack (a.s.sumed your opponent has no haste creatures handy) and you get to untap your creatures first. This also got an even stronger version later with the printing of Tangle.

Looks like fun in a multiplayer game, which I play often. Shut down two of your opponents, haha.

This card is like Fog on steroids. It's a mainstay of my green decks, even in 2010. Fallen Empires had a lot of these hidden gems; it's a pity most people shrug the set off as too old and weak.

nat_h has hit this one dead on. People always harp on FE and Homelands as terrible sets, but things like this little beauty, Hymn to Tourach, Autumn Willow and Folk of An'Havva are all still usefull even today.

i think the reason that you tap all blocking creatures is useing it on the attack, attack with something, they block and would kill your creatures, and you get to keep all there creatures tapped. So long as you didnt attack with everything you get to attack next turn, and you keep the guys that would have died. Works well in a swarm deck that would have more creatures to attack with than they would to block.

Not a bad card, but like holgir said, Tangle is better.

I'll never understand why this is rated so low. Its debatable whether they would even consider printing it today. Printing a fog card like this or tangle would be a little dangerous to modern. Its not just a stall card, its also a very potent (but circumstantial) overrun enabler.

Imagine a 4th or 5th turn pivot with this card. You're playing something green and stompy with your choice of well costed beaters they've been printing these days.. (I'm looking at you tarmogoyf)

So, Your opponent swings 4th turn. ...you don't block, you just cast Spore cloud. Now, you get to punish them for your next two turns while those creatures are locked down. If they're still alive come 6th turn, you've failed as a magic player.
