Easily the best of the Slith cycle from Mirrodin. Better even than the original Whirling Dervish that cycle was based on. If you can get it down early and clear the field.

I always loved the Slith from this set. They really shine if you can find ways to make them unblockable for the first few turns they are out.

@Kiseki: There are a TON of creatures that can get the turn 7 kill, not just the three you listed. As far as tun 6 goes, though, the newly printed Markov Blademaster pulls it off.

Turn 3: Play it
Turn 4: Doublestrike for 1 + 2, now a 3/3 with opp. at 17.
Turn 5: Doubestrike for 3 + 4, now a 5/5 with opp. at 10.
Turn 6: Doublestrike for 5 + 6, now a 7/7 with opp. at -1.

I haven't been able to find any older cards that can do it, though.

I think this is the best of the slith. You can cast it in the second turn and develop it a turn earlier that the black and green slith, and 2 turn earlier than white and blu slith. Developing faster means more difficult choises for your opponent that could chump block it in order to stop its growing. However, in red you can find the best removal for the chumps...
Moreover its haste ability ensure at least one hit even at an advanced state of the game, if played properly, and the possibillity to become a threat even in the mid-game...

Placing it in the JaceVsChandra duel deck is just perfect!

4.5/5

The green slith might be better but is so much more usable because it's red. Good stuff.

A riddle:
You are playing a goldfish, on each turn you play a basic land, you may cast one creature in total, and cannot use the land for anything other than casting the creature. What is the fastest that you can kill your opponent?
This kills your opponent turn 7, as can Lost Leonin and Woolly Thoctar. Is anything faster than turn 7? There are at least three shades that can do it by turn 6 if you allow use of the land. But is there another way to get under 7?

I thought Mirrodin had five suns.

@Tynansdtm

Mirrodin have five suns now. It only had four at the time this card takes place in. Fifth Dawn (The set) is the set heralding the emergence of the Green Sun.

@Kiesi @Henrietta Tempting Wurm from Onslaught is another one that will kill a goldfish on turn 6.

@Henrietta
Without too much thinking I know Liege of the Pit can do it (if you allow the morph cost..)
Turn 3, drop him
Turn 4, morph, do 7
Turn 5, take 7, do 7
Turn 6, take 7, do 7

For a total of 21. It also has double evasion and far less vulnerable to removal. Drawbacks not withstanding :p.

Cosmic Larva also; almost. You would have *just* enough lands to do it barring timing restrictions (I.E. if you could get your land out before his upkeep cost..) Basically, any creature that reaches 7 power for 3 mana (or grows quickly) can do it. 5+ power at CMC 2 also does it fine.

Conditionally you can do Death's Shadow, Nyxathid, Hunted Horror; Nyxathid being the most abusive to your rules as having no opponent makes him have no drawback.

To me this is the middle of the road slith; I prefer {B} and {G} sliths.
