Not a bad addition to the soldiers in M10. Certainly pales in comparison to several of the other soldiers in the set, but decent alone as well. The ability to give your creatures (probably powered up by honor of the pure/armorsmith/swordsmith) the ability to first strike, saving them from deathtouch, and also making sure they will come out alive instead of ever trading with an opponent's creature, is very important mid to late game. First strike would be most useful early on, on a 1 or 2 drop for the soldiers, but boardwide firststrike for later in the game is nothing to scoff at. besides the buff, he is a 33 first strike for 4 mana. Not great but certainly usable, especially if he is being boosted. 4/5

I'm really digging all the positive Soldier action going on in this set. It's funny to think of white as being the "tribal" color, but that's what I'm getting. So much for all of our Onslaught era criticism about Goblins being better "team players" than Soldiers.

4 mana for a 3/3 FS that gives FS to all soldiers. Wowee.

This is one of those uncommons that will crop up everywhere, as it will be a requirement in almost any soldier deck.

This card is a good example of the common theme that was given to white in M10. It's really to bad that the same can't be said of the other colours. White definatly got a good haul of combo cards in this set. I love white, I love soldier decks, and I am really looking forward to updateing mine with several of the new soldier cards from M10.

Great card. 2WW for a 3/3 FS that gives other Soldiers first strike is great. His mana cost compaired to ability given is perfect thats why he is an uncommon not a rare. Field Marshal is the general succesor to this guy, but if you can't get him this guys is the perfect replacement. 4/5

You can say that this guy's a "Soldier Boy?" HA-ha...*crickets chirp*...but seriously, a staple to any Soldier deck. Why, the first time I saw this I was like "What a useless ability." I was wrong, now i know that it is quite devastating in the right decks.

You can say this guy is too expensive, but first strike to all your creatures (assuming you're playing WW soldier) for 4 mana is great. He also backs it up with a strong base body himself, ready to be boosted by Armorsmiths, Swordsmiths and Honor of the Pure.

Imagine this scenario:
Turn 1 - Akrasan Squire
Turn 2 - Honor of the Pure (3 damage from Squire, either to opponent or some creature that would be lucky to have 3 power)
Turn 3 - Veteran Swordsmith (4 damage from squire, same scenario as before)
Turn 4 - Rhox Pikemaster (2 from Squire, 3 from Swordsmith, and now your opponent has little chance of just trading creatures thanks to first strike)
Turn 5 - Conqueror's Pledge (2 from Squire, 3 from Swordsmith, 4 from Pikemaster)
Turn 6 - Coat of Arms (+8/+8 to all your 9 creatures resulting in a gain of 72 power for 5 mana, ignoring any creature types you share with opposing creatures) + Brave The Elements for the win

Of course, the great thing about WW soldier is that you can get ple... (see all)

Okay in Type II. Might of been playable in Type I soldiers if it cost 3 instead of 4.
