This guy might make it worth playing in EDH. Lots of land drops do happen with a multi player games

Bring this in, then bring in a Storm Cauldron.

Only triggers from playing a land (ie, your one land per turn) not putting a land into play. Only effects like oracle of mul daya (that your opponent controls) will get you more than one counter per opponent turn.

Interesting, if you can keep it from getting killed long enough to become effective. This card probably would have some good synergy with Argothian Wurm.

Just use Path to Exile or Hired Giant. Your opponent would then have the choice of either not searching for a land, or searching for one and pumping this guy up.

Also, it's a pretty good deterrent to enemy landfall mechanics and fetch lands.

Edit: my bad. This guy stinks.

I like it with proper ramping he can come out turn 3 probably not the best 5 drop to play turn three but its early enough in the game that he'lldefinately get bigger

Path to Exile or Hired Giant won't work Nammertime:

10/4/2004 A spell or ability that tells a player to "put a land onto the battlefield" does not count as playing a land.

If it was priced less, it'd be far more effective. As it is, your opponent will probably have enough lands that not pumping this thing won't be too bad. Hey, at least it's Bolt proof.

On the one hand you are right, MTGFreak. On the other, if you have no combos to make use of its +1/+1 counters, it will even in the best case be just a large vanilla creature. No evasion, abilities to protect itself. Might be better to rather invest into one of the other quickly growing creatures, that also bring other abilities along.

An interesting thing to note about the Battle Royale box set reprints is that they gave us colored expansion symbols for cards that previously didn't have them.

This was a rare in Tempest, but at the time Tempest was printed, they didn't print the expansion symbols in different colors to differentiate rarities. Here, we still have the Tempest expansion symbol, but it's colored gold. The same was true of other sets in the block, like Stronghold.

Other examples: Wildfire Emissary, Living Death, Spike Feeder, as well as the dual land cycle that included Cinder Marsh and Mogg Hollows. (And more).

Interestingly, they did not give expansion symbols to cards that currently had no expansion symbol at all, like Blinking Spirit or autocard multiverseid="2117... (see all)
