sounds good to me. I don't see a 1-drop (especially an aggro deck, the only ones that would use this) lasting for more than a few turns, and this can stick around long enough to do some damage or take out other low-mana creatures.

Being an aggro card itself, this is one of only a view Beasts for an accordant tribal deck which can act as fast resistance against aggro decks. (Skyshroud Cutter is the another Beast which can provide a moderate body on turn one.)
If you also have a Wirewood Savage, Ravenous Baloth and/or AEther Charge, this guy will do a good job in your opening hand and also when drawing it later in the game.

It's interesting, flavourwise, that so many of the Fading creatures from Nemesis look like they are being liquified! (not liquified)

That's...awesome.
I love fading (and, to a lesser extent, vanishing) be cause it (they) allow cards like this. Balancing mechanics...
They were a liscence to print cards that should be broken, but aren't due to the time limit.

Reset him with Horned Kavu.
Given red green, consider Cliffrunner Behemoth.
Also consider Sparkcaster the second time you need a reset.
While I can put Rancor on *any* card and have good effect; it's really nice on a guy you know is going to die; as it's a pump that puts 4 damage down range that even 2/2 first strikers can't get around; so they have to eat it.
If you:
T1- this guy (forest)
T2- rancor, attack for 4 (hickory woodlot)
T3- attack for 4, horned kavu, rancor, this guy (mountain)
T4- cliffrunner, attack for 12
T4 win with no card-disadvantage pumps or burn..
..with Kavus and Beasts. Two of the most disresepected and-yet-obviously-playable tribes in magic.

This guy is simply amazing. Smack a Rancor on him at your second turn, and get it back to cast on your 4x4 or something.
