This is at the same CC as Gluttonous Zombie with the option to play it early as a one drop. If the the zombie subtype or extra black needed to kick it aren't issues then this is way more playable.

Kicker cost makes her a little pricy for a 3/3 Fear creature, but she isn't bad.

Gluttonous Zombie is weaker than this. Having kicker makes it combo with things that trigger off of kicker like Rumbling Aftershocks, and having +1/+1 counters makes it grow with proliferate, and can be advantageous for other reasons like Sage of Fables. Not to mention if you need to stall a turn and a chump blocker is all you need to win, the Zombie will be a dead card. I would choose this over the zombie any day.

I'm thinking of using this in EDH as one of my Concerted Effort enablers. Fear isn't really all that essential, but I'd like to have at least one card that can get it b/c then Concerted Effort would give EVERYone Fear.
Is this worth a spot in Kaalia of the Vast for that purpose?

with 2 modes this card is better than Gluttonous Zombie, GZ will always have a CC of 5 this can either be played on turn1 as a chump blocker or turn 5 as a 3/3 Fear. ON top of that she has +1/+1 counters on her which can be proliferated or need I say it Doubling Season
