hilarious misunderstanding of what a lemure is caused a fearsome spirit to look like a cute lemur. This mistake and others like it influenced Bronze Calendar in one of the unglued sets, which depicts a colander.

From wikipedia: 'The head of household would rise at midnight and cast black beans behind him with averted gaze; the Lemures were presumed to feast on them. Black was the appropriate colour for offerings to chthonic deities.'
The sound of scrabbling claws and - I assume - squeaks from a group of these as they gobbled up beans from behind you at midnight seems adorably terrifying...
I don't have an issue with the depiction in the art, I've actually had difficulty finding a specific visual guide as to what they should look like...
