It's a metal turtle with a giant laser gun mounted on its shell. How did the Keldons not suspect?

Oh man, somebody please tell me they've made a Ninja/Turtle tribal deck. Please, I would buy that in an instant.

This card was used in any aggro deck that wanted some insurance against sorceries...Fires used it after it came out as a defense to Wrath and other sorceries, for example.

I used to use this card in an extremely successful W/R deck with Citadel of Pain and Circle of Protection: Red and Well of Life and Well of Discovery. Unfortunately the mana burn rules were changed and the deck became useless.

In any kind of fast stompy deck this guy is nuts, kudos to being immune to your opponents sorcery's.

When I started playing this card's name was thrown around, but I never found out what the actual card was for a couple of years. Now I don't remember what deck type it went in. Probably something anti-control for that era. (Masques-Invasion)

Not only is it immune to your opponent's sorceries, it's immune to your own, people. Which means your pox won't disrupt the chelonian beatdown.

could work great in an upwelling deck, just tap all your land before you activate him.

Tapping your lands is not part of the activation cost. That is why it is so good. Only thing that really sucks about this card is that you cannot play this with manlands. Chimeric Mass is interesting however it still requires 1 mana to activate. What I like about Chimeric Idol is that you can spend all of your mana on spells and still attack when you're tapped out. Activating for free is exponentially better than activating for 1. imo this is the best totem creature you could put in a deck.
