Fits like a glove in the deck; however a lot of time I wanted to leave the high power stuff in there for The Mimeoplasm.

Usually, isn't the card you're trying to dig out the cheaper cards in your deck, like Eternal Witness or Rofellos? If you have graveyard stuff happening, you're going to want to keep the stronger creatures for Living Death or Animate Dead.

That being said, Cadaver Imp would've been a much better addition to The Mimeoplasm deck.

I'm sorry...
What happened to gravedigger?
I suppose this has a slightly more flexible mana cost, if you're playing BG, but it does have 2 pips instead of one...
It has it's place, but I'm none too fond of it.

In a green deck which needs reanimate this is good.
In a green and black deck with Creakwood Liege this is good.
In a Hag-Tribe Deck this is good (green/white/black Deck with a hint of blue ;) )

In a black Deck just use Gravedigger and have the luxury of choosing what to reanimate.

So it eats dead things... and that brings them back to your hand? Makes zero sense flavorwise.

Like most people, I tended to overlook this particular hag and compare it to Gravedigger or Cadaver Imp, until one day I built an Omniscience deck.
I wanted a combo win, and the deck was already running Bloodthrone Vampire and Blood Artist, so I chucked in a single Gravedigger, figuring I could cast him, sacrifice him to bloodthrone, retrieve him with his own ability, and play him again for free with omniscience. Only when I tried this did I learn that I had to pick the target of his ETB ability before I had the chance to feed him to bloodthrone.
Not with the hag!
Since the hag doesn't target, you can sacrifice her immediately as she enters the battlefield, then retrieve her with her own ability (assuming there's nothing above 2 power in your yard), meaning I don't have to bother with 2 gravediggers for my combo.
Not something that comes up all the time, ... (see all)
