There once was a brute named Kamahl
Who won zero Pit Fight s in all.
He'd only one toughness;
The first sign of roughness
Invariably led to his fall.

I find it funny that Kamahl, Pit Fighter will pretty much always die in a pit fight. XD Granted he'll probably take someone with him.

@Palantin & @FurnaceOfRath:

Current rules for "Fighting" are as follows as of February 1, 2013.

701.10. Fight
701.10a A spell or ability may instruct a creature to fight another creature or it may instruct two
creatures to fight each other. Each of those creatures deals damage equal to its power to the
other creature.

701.10b If a creature instructed to fight is no longer on the battlefield or is no longer a creature, no
damage is dealt. If a creature is an illegal target for a resolving spell or ability that instructs it to
fight, no damage is dealt.
701.10c If a creature fights itself, it deals damage equal to its power to itself twice.
701.10d The damage dealt when a creature fights isn't combat damage.

So, FurnaceOfRath, good job on sticking to your guns, and to Palantin, the creatures deal damage to each other. First strike is not a factor and you are not attacking so trampling is not a factor either. As to you getting tokens with Giant... (see all)

Hey its green creature removal, and can be used in red also.

@Furnace of Rath.

First strike doesnt effect fight mechanic, you were correct.. In future situations like that, I would say call the wizards hotline but they play fast and lose, I have seen them get info wrong and then I would have to correct the customer support. MTGO and ask the orc is the fastest way to verify info.

Y'know, it'd be really weird to have a fight during the combat step. "What, you're blocking me? In that case, my attacking creature will fight your blocking creature!".

This vs Prey Upon:

Pit Fight:
Pros:
-Instant
-Playable in red or green
-Can target two of your creatures
Cons:
-Costs 2
Prey Upon:
Pros:
-Costs one
Cons:
-Sorcery
-Green only
-Must target creature you control and one you don't

Sorry, Prey Upon, I have to give this one to the pit.

I am torn between this and Prey Upon
While Prey Upon is cheaper at Green ,
Pit Fight is instant-speed, and almost makes up for the extra 1 with the
On a sidenote; Prey forces you target a creature you control and a creature you don't control
while Pit targets a creature you control, and another target creature, which gives slight versatilty- if for any reason you wanted to kill one of your own creatures.

Prey: 3.75
Pit: 4.0

If they had written the flavor text for noobs it would say "use it on your Stuffy Doll." I would like to see a 3cmc fight card that cantrips.
