I feel like putting kicker against counter-spells is a tad bit cruel. New players who bought this pack to play it in and of itself will probably feel miffed when they pay 6 mana for a 1/3 spider to go into their graveyard. People who bought it for the card value will probably feel miffed when they find this card.
Nonetheless, stapling a kill spell to a creature isn't all bad and might be just the combination of abilities you needed to topdeck.

Creatures in Jace's deck come in two flavours: Hilariously tiny and horrifically large.
Vraska's deck has a wide range of removal spells. Spells like Last Kiss, Marsh Casualties, and Consume Strength are for Jace's tiny creatures. Spells like Nekrataal, Grisly Spectacle, and Tragic Slip are for Jace's larger creatures.
Although the Recluse here might seem a little bland, it's important to rememeber that Jace has a lot of dangerous fliers. When you've got Jace's Mindseeker, or Jace's Phantasm, or Krovikan Mist staring you down, you'll be glad to know that there's just one more killspell in your deck somewhere.
Probably better than people are giving it credit for.
