Interesting how this is very similar functionally to Sword of Kaldra and Chariot of Victory (also in journey into nyx) is similar to Helm of Kaldra...

Godsend or God's End... Amirite?

Puns aside, ridiculous card, hard to gauge how much play it will see in standard, but I fear it all the same. Good for pushing offense, good for playing defense, and late-game you can hop it from an attacker to a blocker to further antagonize your opponent.

So... Godhunter Octopus is practically useless against gods, and this gift from the heavens is the perfect answer to them.

The creative team confirmed that the name is because it was given to Elspeth by Heliod (a godsend) and because she uses it to kill Xenagos (a god's end). Something so simple and so incredibly creative. Also, MaRo said it isn't a "Legendary Enchantment Artifact -- Equipment" because it wouldn't fit on one line of text.

I like how it doesn't actually go through the opponent's deck and take out the card it exiled (like Slaughter Games or Surgical Extraction). That way if your opponent draws said card, it becomes a dead draw.

I have been waiting for this card to hit the Gatherer for weeks! I am so excited! It's Nevermore and Sword of Kaldra glued together, but with a lower mana cost, lower equip cost and no need to even deal damage to exile things. That being said it's not strictly better than either. It really doesn't act exactly like the sword or the enchantment, but it FEELS like both, and I like that.

EDIT: I see a couple posts about exiling someone's commander for good, and that doesn't work. In order to prevent the card from being cast it checks whether or not the card is exiled, but their commander would have moved to a different game zone. I wish it worked the way you want it to.

The population of Godse, ND, love the card with their namesake. Not many cards feature references to North Dakota.
