This card fills a niche that nothing else does; it's the cheapest instant-speed untap-all-yer-critters. I don't really remember ever entwining it or taking the +1/+1. The instant speed thing seemed really promising, but it helped me surprise-block a lot less often than I thought it would. Often, I didn't have enough stuff I was willing to lose to blocking. Most of the time, I basically used this to double down on Mother of Runes protection, or used Mother of Runes to make a single blocker invincible. Thing is, most of the time, I had left Mother of Runes untapped anyway, so the surprise untap was superfluous.
Nowadays, I like Quest for Renewal better, it's more fun to go on a quest, and casual's about having fun.
I guess you could use this with Living Lands to get a bunch of mana. (In that case, also run four Mobilize!)
