Useful early in the game, and replaces it self when it becomes obsolete, but it so should have flying.............

If it just provided two cards (similar to Bequeathal), this card would be such an amazing opening choice for Spirit decks.
Like this it's just recycling in case you don't need it anymore, sigh...

And it doesn't have flying why, exactly? It seems to be able to levitate in the picture.

I don't know much about Kamigawa, so I can't say how useful this would have been back then, but nowadays I'd rather just pay one more mana for the ability to do it on demand. And there's probably a cheaper card that allows you to do this that I'm too lazy to go look up.
