That's a pretty desperate ritual.

I hold with Binary Man. This is a great finisher if you place it where it needs to be. It's meant to be a late game card. It temporarily doubles your mana for a giant x spell. great stuff. 3.5/5

This might, might be useful if you need a desperate, late game fireball or something along those lines. But this is no Squandered Resources.

I've won casual games plenty-o-times with this and any R(X) damage card. Using a solid red deck with nothing but burn spells, it's pretty easy to keep the board clear and then toast your opponent.

I have it in a casual Koth deck. It has 30 land, Countryside Crusher, and Crucible of Worlds, so I'm looking for the sacrifice. Koth's -2 for (MTN_COUNT) mana, tap for (LAND_COUNT) mana, Seism for (LAND_COUNT - 2) mana, and then Comet Storm as desired. For added bonus, play in a two-headed giant game and double your damage. Happens frequently enough to be edging up to mill and discard on my friends rage-o-meters.

What do all of you mean? This card is a great finisher! Think about this:
You have 12 Mountains on the battlefield, this and Banefire in your hand. You tap all your lands, that's 12 red mana, then pay 2 to play this, sac all your lands, for another 12 mana. That is 12-2+12=22 pure mana right there! Pay one for Banefire's CMC, then pay the rest, 21, on it's X cost... uncounterable and unpreventable 21 pure damage right at the opponent! Combo this and other mana accel cards and you would have a catastrophe! If you just use Banefire alone you would only get 11 damage.

How is this card useful in its own right?
