Not that this matters a whole lot, but Force of Nature is better than Terra Stomper if your opponent should Control Magic or Clone it. Would I play this over Terra Stomper? Probably not, but it's always fun to think of the ways in which older creatures aren't totally outclassed by newer creatures.

Man, this kind of "pay X or suffer X dmg" is rarely seen with green, more a black thing, which is logic, due to the dabbling in the dark and demonic arts black represents, where green is more about summoning huge beasts.

I tried to figure out recently why this has continued to have a soft spot in my heart years and years after first seeing it. The drawback is pretty horrendous, so is it just my Timmy self feeling nostalgic? I think now that the context has a lot to do with it. In revised, when I started playing, only three creatures had Trample: War Mammoth, Lord of the Pit, and this bad boy. A few others were in the contemporary expansions and some worked their way into fourth edition. But trample was a special ability and among them the Force offered sheer power from its size, and the fact that a 6CC allowed most green decks to play it quite early in the game. I think the potential of huge, self-inflicted damage actually contributed to it and Lord of the Pit being viewed as something far more awe-inspiring than they seem now. I still love you, you abstraction made fattie!

this card is kind of sad for usability but the artwork is absolutely beautiful. Greg Staples is my hero.

I just pulled four lotus cobras and terra stompers out of a couple booster boxes. They replaced my ancient heartwood dryads and forces of nature in my green deck: 3rd turn double terra stompers makes no one alive to complain.
