Decent card in it's day. However, I love the Talismans more so than the diamonds, and would love it if the Mirrodin Talismans were reprinted.

I tend to prefer Fellwar Stone to this cycle.
If I have a 2 color deck, I may turn to signets, and 4-5, I would use Fellwar or Prismatic lens.

I agree with Shadowf0x. Why this card comes into play tapped is beyond me. It costs 2 so it should definitely be able to generate 1 mana on its first turn.

Would be worth it if it didn't come into play tapped otherwise unless you're running a giganto deck, it is simply not worth it. Put in some good small spells like pacifism, more land, and Take this out!

Just use Mox Pearl? Mox Pearl is minimum like 400 bucks depending on the set, most people don't drop that kind of money on cards and lots of people don't like to proxy. This is the poor man's Mox and that's ok. 3.5
