Yeah, this card really loses its effictiveness compared to graveyard fetchers, especially considering you got to pay, have the guy in your graveyard, and this creature has to die. All of that is quite the set up.

Solidly "meh". I could envision myself using it in a Devour deck, but I wouldn't expect it to be fantastic. I guess it would pay itself off when it raises a Sprouting Thrinax.

He's those magical three colours for Ravnica's famous lesbians (Lyzolda, the Blood Witch and Savra, Queen of the Golgari) to take advantage of. Suddenly sacrificing him doesn't seem so bad, especially when he can bring back that Sprouting Thrinax or Jund Sojourners you ditched earlier. Besides, what's wrong with a 4/4 for 5 mana?
