How does this work with proliferate?



I would like to see them fix this by using color counters- the counter added matches the color paid. Doesn't combo with the charge counter-adding stuff from Mirrodin and Scars anymore, but might work better otherwise.
Something like:
1, T: Add one counter of the color paid to Jeweled Amulet.
T: Add one to your mana pool of the color removed.

I think Willpell's card is utterly ridiculous, and although Aaron's version is more in line with modern execution, I think there's more than enough artifacts that tap for any color mana. It would be interesting to see a real attempt at something like this that is truer to the original.

PS. So apparently, the standard R&D shorthand of writing cardname in brackets to refer back to the card produces a red mana symbol. What? ColorlessRedEnergy

Proliferate is covered by the second ruling on the card. An extra mana ain't too bad. This card REALLY loves Scars block.

It's pretty bad, but not completely unplayable. At least it is a free boost for the Academy.

Still good, but anything like proliferate prevents abuse, since any later added counters don't have the memory of what mana type was added to the new counter.

When this card came out it really helped accelerate mana early, especially in non-green decks. In two color decks, when you didn't have all the dual lands, it helped to double colored mana for a turn. First turn store mana, second turn use three mana to cast something like icequake. if you get two early, it made third turn sengir vampire, air elemental, or Serra Angel possible.
