I hate that text box entirely too much.
Fine card, though. I wish that R&D would explore the interaction between aura and creature more, instead of printing auras that automatically give card disadvantage.
We'll have to see what the future holds.

This new art is too close up, not enough of a scene. There's just 'dead guy in your face' with some rocks breaking out from around him. The motion of the rocks makes it look like he's blowing them away, not rising from them (as though this art was originally intended for a loss of life spell).The old art, with the bodies wreathed in eerie flames rising from the ground, was much better.
Still a solid card and a favorite in reanimator, especially for snagging your opponent's utility creatures. It doesn't matter if Seedborn Muse or Magus of the Future has 1 less power, now does it? Especially when you got them for {1}{B} on the second turn after a first turn Ostracize...

This is the best reanimation spell, hands down, for this reason:
I could honestly see this card getting reprinted into an actual Standard-Legal set thanks to Naturalize, if only the effect could be reworded in a way that is just more concise and readable--

Enchantment
When Reanimation Ritual enters the battlefield, return a creature card in a graveyard to the battlefield under your control with a -1/-1 counter on it. When Reanimation Ritual leaves the battlefield, sacrifice that creature.
Well?
Advantage of using the -1/-1 counter would be to reduce exploiting hasty creatures with 1 toughness. Exhibit A: Ball Lightning.

Seriously, the text should read:
"Target discarded creature card in your own graveyard goes to battlefield. Attach this card to target creature. If Animated dead is removed from play, discard target creature. If creature dies or goes to graveyard, exile this card.
Enchanted creature gets -1/0"
