Cheap counter addition, and as Purple states, can be used against undying creatures. Perfectly utilitarian card.

Ok, HERE'S a good strategy to use with this card and Vorel of the Hull Clade:
Tap Vorel, for 2 mana and double a creature's counters.. Play THIS card, untap him, use his ability AGAIN to double the counters on the same creature!
5 total mana for quadruple counters??? Seems hella awesome in my book! Plus Vorel gets a tad more defense when he gets a counter from this! ^_^
