Honestly, if it have been 8 for everything, instead of 9, this card would be a heck of alot better... as it is, it seems really clunky to me.

I know a lot of people like it, but I'm really not a big fan of this card. 3/5

Once, one of my friends opened a foil Grozoth. Immediately after, we met a guy that hated Grozoth with a passion, and he bowed to get and destroy every Grozoth he saw. Then, he more or less forced my friend to trade the Grozoth to him, and he immediately ripped it apart. It now rests in pieces in the central spot of a binder page full of Grozoths.

This is one of those cards that would have made Flash a beat of a card even if that Protean Hulk thing didn't exist.

See also Shallow Grave, which would let you overfill your hand with beastly Reanimator targets.

Comes-into-play abilities rock.

So, it is not Grozoth, but a grozoth? Weird semantics. I guess you can find 3 more of it once you play it...

Scragnoth always tries to negate my thoughts about it by redirecting me to this card, the clever bastadge.

One of my favorite plays in EDH:
Turn 4: Braids, Conjurer Adept
Opponent's Turn: lol, ok. I play "insert fattie here" for free. Thanks dude.
My Turn 5: Okay. Grozoth.
Search for Inkwell Leviathan, Artisan of Kozilek, and Hand of Emrakul.

Don't get me wrong, I like this guy. But why would you ever transmute him? Why discard him to get one 9cmc card when you can play him and get all the 9cmc cards?

Unless you're planning to reanimate him, I suppose. But then you're playing black, which means you've got a plethora of better ways to get him graveside, seeing as how he'll hit the battlefield anyway and it won't matter what you fetched with the transmute.

I always wondered why they even printed this guy, he has no in block interactions other than Blazing Archon and Nullstone Gargoyle. But then I realised that Dragonstorm was reintroduced into standard directly after in Time Spiral. Sneaky sneaky Wizards with a subtle 3 mana tutor for the win condition of ravnica-time spiral standard.

Squadron 'Zoth. When I play this in Crosis, the Reanimator EDH, I always Transmute this guy for Artisan of Kozilek, cast Artisan recurring this guy, and grab Inkwell Leviathan, Plague Wind, and Furnace Dragon. 1 card becoming 5 cards for a mere {10UU}. Very doable in my EDH.
