@notbumblebee: it's still a creature, so the target is still valid. Also, if I'm not mistaken, this checks for creatures with the same name upon resolution, not upon casting, and as such, if you somehow flashed in another reckless waif (which has the waif face up) that one won't be exiled. It will only check for other merciless predators.

More generally, great card overall, really strong removal, and the flashback is amazing for slower formats like EDH.
