People keep citing the lack of Plant creatures... This isn't meant to be a Tribal lord, he's meant to pump the army of Plants he creates. You don't need anything else, it's an all-in-one beatdown package on its own.

If an Avenger of Zendikar was to gain phasing, would someone be able to make a huge army of plant tokens?

@Aronomizer: Unfortuneatly no. Phasing in does not count as entering the battlefield. It is just phasing in. So you would not get extra tokens each turn. As far as I know (and my information comes from a very unreliable source) the way you think it works is how it originally worked and they errated it so phase in was just phase in later.

Unfortunate that he's not a Plant, so he doesn't buff himself nor can you cast Alpha Status on him for absurd power buff.
Oh well. Cast Coat of Arms instead.
