just use Khalni Hydra in any green swarm, you get a free 8/8 and +8/+8 to all your creatures, i run this ensted of overun in my swarm for just that reason

I'm going to miss overrun but I can't deny this is a good card, I would've preferred if they had printed overrun again since it's uncommon and I could have gotten a few more... Anyway, this card is almost perfect for any green deck, or any deck that can splash green, all you need is a creature with 3 power and you've essentially got an overrun. Bigger creatures (Mossbridge Troll or Kalonian Behemoth anyone?) make it even better. 5/5 from me, situational but it ends up being good almost every time. Really the only you can play this and be a bad thing is if you just played it at the completely wrong time, and in that case it's your fault, not the card's.
P.S. weenie decks don't complain, 15 1/1s becoming 15 2/2s with trample is still 30 total damage, and that will put a dent in nearly anyone. Still not satisfied? Just Giant Growth one of them before you play it!

Wizard's changed overrun because in limited it was just to freaking powerful as an uncommon. And while it's relatively ease to bump a card down a rarity (act of treason, serra angel, protean hydra), its almost impossible to justify bumping a card UP a rarity, especially one as well known as overrun. So they made a new version, which will still have the same effect "MOST" of the time (barring token decks, but there are other options in standard), but will also appear less frequently, and have a lower chance of producing multiples in a deck.

with creatures like Leatherback Baloth and Garruk's Companion, this IS just as good as overrun. not meant for weenies and token deck though. it's meant for big monogreen baddies who need trample and a significant power boost for a finishing swing.

The one thing I found interesting about this card was: 1. It's rare and 2. It costs 3GG rather than 2GGG...
Interesting... I don't expect this card to be too competitive though. If you have a big creature when you cast this, just don't be suprised when your biggie gets destroyed in response.
Overrun is slightly better than this only because of consitency (which is why I always facepalm whenever someone runs Garruk for his ultimate).

Looks great for decks with larger creatures, but for my Squirrel deck I think I stick with Overrun, since I don't have a creature with greater power than 2 in that deck. Of course, Squirrel Mob would sure enjoy the effect of Overwhelming Stampede, but ONLY if I have a bunch of other chattering "pe(s)ts" out there. Overrun, with a set increasement in strengh, is more my style.
However, Overwhelming Stampede would do great in my Wurm deck, where nearly no creature are at a lower power than 4...
