My friend and I were playing Modern RDW (me) vs UW Control and I swung with Goblin Guide to reveal a topdeck Terminus. I didn't play my Stormblood Berserker and Grim Lavamancer that turn and passed. Just another reason this guy is awesome.

I feel like this card has a drawback the same way Black Lotus has the drawback of you needing to sacrifice it.

That drawback of his can actually easily turn into a bit of advantage - if it's not a land sitting on top, you still get to see their next card, and that's gaining valuable information - something very rarely seen in mono red! Besides that, he's still a 2/2 hasty goblin for one mana. Nuts! 5/5

The drawback? People care so little about the drawback I never remember to do it! I am far more concerned with the fact that Im getting bashed for two on turn one!

4.5/5 for me.

A 2/2 with haste for R is great.

A 2/2 with haste for R that shows you the next card your opponent is drawing, therefore allowing you to prepare is GREAT.

Just another reason to try and play Goblins in Standard using this great card.

The blue player says, "card advantage is the most important thing in the game. As long as I have more cards in my hand than you do, you never stand a chance of beating me."

The Goblin Guide smashes the blue player's head into the dirt and makes him eat a mouthful of stinging nettle while Goblin Piledriver breaks his neck.

It's nice to know that red finally lives up to its reputation of being the "fast color" by getting a one-drop 2/2. I always found it annoying that white has better one-drops than red (see Savannah Lions and the Hound of Konda for examples). However, it does sadden me to see Raging Goblin become so clearly outclassed, but I suppose that shouldn't stop a goblin deck from running both.

Okay, smoothing out your opponents draws by giving them lands is a huge draw back. Your opponent can start of on the draw with 8 cards. Anyone who has used or faced this card often knows that.

I mean seriously. You people aren't really saying that isn't a drawback. Still, great card doh.

Just spent $35 on a playset of these idiots. Totally worth it.

This guy is insane! How was wizards stupid enough to print this??? The entire block was pretty op though...

Who cares about the drawback? It's like great red mages always say: if you're worrying about your life total, you're probably already dead. This is the same thing. An extra land for two damage a turn on a hasty goblin AND you get to look at your opponents next draw? This guy works wonders.

5/5 for sheer power.

@the"drawback": The right thing to do is just main deck a couple Blood Moons in say, Modern. What good will drawing lands do that tap for the wrong color? Besides, the land count in Modern is low as it is...

A 2/2 haste for 1 is just stupidly good. That "drawback" isn't really a drawback either; if it doesn't hit a land, you just learned what their next draw is.

@troll_berserker: Wow, hadn't even considered miracles. That's pretty awesome.

@MagicCritic: Torpor Orb prevents abilities from triggering when creatures enter the battlefield.

Goblin Guide's ability triggers when it attacks, not when it enters the battlefield. Torpor Orb does nothing to prevent it.

What the hell.
5/5
Torpor Orb and his ability is gone.
I wouldn't though, his "drawback" is actually an "advantage" that predicts the next card which lets you strategize better.
