This little bugger is the new definition of pressure in the first few turns. Carried quite a few games for me in the pre-release.

The drawback? People care so little about the drawback I never remember to do it! I am far more concerned with the fact that Im getting bashed for two on turn one!

I play RDW and four copies of this guy, and honestly I feel he is broken. Against control, he's beating for 2 every turn and forces removal. Against aggro, he sits back and trades favorably. The equivalent red card without the drawback is Goblin Chariot, which costs three times as much. Starting off the game with your opponent at 14 and with an extra card or two in hand sounds good to me. 5/5.

@Arachibutyrophobia

You might want to change that Orcish Oriflamme for a Trumple Blast !

2/2 for Red -> DAMN!!!
2/2 GOBLIN for Red with HASTE which blah blah blah... -> WHAT??????????

Consider also that if you have more than one attacking, defending player looks always at the same top card of his/her library if it is not a land.
For example, if you attack with three of these, three abilities trigger:
- the first resolves, opponent looks at the top card; it's a land, so it takes it in hand
- the second resolves, opponent looks at the top card; it's not a land, it remains on the top of library
- the third resolves, the top card of the library is always the same; it's not a land.
Were there one thousand of these abilities on the stack, the nonland card on top of the library is always the same!

I feel like this card has a drawback the same way Black Lotus has the drawback of you needing to sacrifice it.

That drawback of his can actually easily turn into a bit of advantage - if it's not a land sitting on top, you still get to see their next card, and that's gaining valuable information - something very rarely seen in mono red! Besides that, he's still a 2/2 hasty goblin for one mana. Nuts! 5/5

If this was released in onslaught it would be absolutely insane. Zendikar goblins can't even compare.

Vintage sligh just got a whole lot stronger.

4.5/5 for me.

A 2/2 with haste for R is great.

A 2/2 with haste for R that shows you the next card your opponent is drawing, therefore allowing you to prepare is GREAT.

Just another reason to try and play Goblins in Standard using this great card.

The blue player says, "card advantage is the most important thing in the game. As long as I have more cards in my hand than you do, you never stand a chance of beating me."

The Goblin Guide smashes the blue player's head into the dirt and makes him eat a mouthful of stinging nettle while Goblin Piledriver breaks his neck.

This has to be my favorite card right now. I love getting him first turn and watching my opponents draw lands only to end up discarding!

The so called "drawback" real isn't much of a draw back at all. %60 of the time your opponent isn't going to find a land and reveal to you some great info.

Little guy allows you to deal 4 to 8 damage in the first four turns. Then let your burn spells do the rest.

He runs across field at you opponent while revealing some cards with his lantern along the way. Probably on a quest for Goblin Lord or somthing....

I love this card, he reminds me of Arc-Slogger. How? He has a big drawback that makes him difficult to evaluate.

However, I play aggro a lot, and I can attest that this guy is awesome. He is one of the fastest one-drops in the game, and will quickly have your opponent in the single digits. The drawback matters little. Even if EVERY time they get a free land, they will be dead or at burn range before that card advantage you have given your opponent matters.

To be fair, Baneslayer Angel is really what I would worry about most. She is such a huge pain for RDW, and now with Kor Firewalker the archtype will have a hard time finding success. So now I can get them cheap for casual :P

4.5/5. Not perfect, but close.

great aggro card, but if you get unlucky (or your opponent gets lucky) and goblin guide makes your opponent reveal a land every time it attacks, you're in big trouble due to all the card advantage he gets.

@ Dingo777

It's still card advantage either way. If they get a land put into their hand because of goblin guide, that's a draw they didn't waste on a land.

Why do you think treasure hunt is a good card? It will only get you one nonland card, but the point is that you'll get all the lands out of the way (provided you use ponder or halimar depths, etc), meaning your regular draws will more likely hit your nonland cards.

@ Htoth3izzO

I'm pretty sure it's not counted as drawing a card. The ability says that if it's a land card the player "puts it into his or her hand". That's not the same thing as drawing the card.

you think about it mdakw567, and it isnt much of a card advantage, it is a land, and sure they will get their land drop, but if you are hitting a pocket, and you are giving them 2 lands, then it is dead weight in hand, can only play 1, usually, there are some cheats, but not enough to be really concerned

he is nice, 2/2 haste is annoying early game, and hard to stop without a casualty till round t3+ so you gotta figure around 4 damage, 6 on the play
