I wouldn't be so quick as to Not compare the two, however, I agree that that particular comparison was unfair. The true story comes about in flavor. You see, there is an interesting tale told in the scars block, at least I see it as such. In scars we get Skinrender, a four cost dude that is really cool, and one of sheoldred's early creations. Then in besieged, we get Scourge Servant, another 3/3 brought to us by sheoldred, this time costing 5. Move on to NP, and we have obliterator and this beauty. Both retain the CC of their former iterations, but have been perfected. And also they hurt if you hurt them. I think it's a neat little cycle.

This guy is a HOUSE in limited. It makes attacking so very painful and unprofitable for your opponent.
The best thing about him is the mean glare he gives to half of your opponent's board.

It's just so expensive. Everything about it is desirable, of course, except the little cost issue. I'm not necessarily even saying that the cost isn't deserved; it just might not be quite enough to really tip scales at 5 mana in constructed. In any case, I'm glad the card exists! It's a lovely infect card.

Expensive, but guaranteed damage to anyone dumb enough to hit it and a toughness that puts it out of most common burn ranges.
That being said, expensive. Very god damned expensive.

Quite cool in {B}/{U} infect control. Gives a large blocker, you can still pump some good infect into the opponent quite easily; and it's difficult to deal with outside of straight removal.
