Good Card in the current Standard Elf Deck. Bottom line, it fills the creature gap nicely at 2/2 for 1G, boosted to 4/4 with Oran-Rief, the Vastwood and Elvish Archdruid. Also, sometimes I like a little vanilla with my 20 broken abilities lol. Decent art and flavor.

This card is a bit better than Grizzly Bears / Runeclaw Bear,
so why is it rated lower?
I do agree though, that Elvish Warrior would've been a better choice for this slot. Anyone using elves on a whim is more than likely going to be using them in a primarily, if not mono-green deck.

Cylian Sunsinger outclasses this, and it's in the same block. The only difference is that this is common, while that is rare.

Not as bad as everybody's making it out to be, in my opinion.
VS. Elvish Warrior: Elvish Warrior has one more Toughness, but you can only use green mana to play it. Not a big deal if your deck only uses green, but in dual/multicolor you might end up waiting a while to get a second Forest.
VS. Elvish Archers: Yeah it's the same power and same mana cost with the bonus of being first strike. But its Toughness is 1. Meaning it can easily be killed by pingers, any spell that does damage, and in general anything that can do damage to it before dying.
VS. Grizzly Bears: Seriously? Other than their Subtypes, THEY'RE EXACTLY THE SAME. Not to mention that there are cards that get/give bonuses for Elf cards being in play.
