@Tommy: it all depends on what other cards you're comparing it to. In limited, sure, 4/4s for five can be really good. But not in Standard where six mana is supposed to get you a 6/6 lifelink that has to be killed twice.

I'm tired of trying to convince people that 4/4 for 5s are a good deal. What do you people expect, really? Think about how much bigger 4/4 is than any of the early stuff and really think how cheap could it really be to get one out. Not everyone of them can be a Thrun, five mana is the best bargain you can ask for on a 4/4 common.
Just use it as a 4/4 don't try to transform it by holding back cards you would have normally played, this will bash in or hold the fort just fine. Once you have ran out of gas, than it really gets good and can win in a final stalemate. Remember, your opponent will have to play something on their turn too if they don't want it to flip. So by playing normally you force them to overextend and they won't have enough cards to transform it back.

A group of humans hunters is 4/4? Ok, it's a bit of a stretch, but ok.
But that artwork is terrible. I mean really, seriously bad. What is it even supposed to be? A joke? Why is there an asian woman with a big white beard? What's with the haircuts? Why does it seem like all the people are just cut and paste in and then stuck in a bramble frame?
The flavour text barely makes sense.
Then when it transforms, the art is also pretty bad. I get what they were going for by having the 'nature' frame of the brambles switch to the 'urban' frame of the window being smashed in. I get the 'clever' reversal of having them be out in the forest not allowed in town when /human/ and then forcefully coming back into town when they're /wolves/. That's a neat idea, but because the flavour text isn't terribly strong and the art is bad, it doesn't really grok.
Mostly though, horrible art. Just horrible. Actually innistrad has a few really bad bits of art. See Olivia Voldaren ... (see all)

So I see James Brown, a mall Santa, and ... hmmm, pompadour, huge sideburns, awful goatee. Could it be a hipster? Horror really DOES lurk within on Innistrad.
Weird art.
Edit: Yes, it seems that once I saw the actual card (as opposed to the Gatherer image), I realized what I thought was an old man was a huge poofy beard was actually a woman with quite an ... odd-looking scarf. I don't know if that makes the art more or less weird.

My friend tried to play this without a sleeve.
That out of the way, this card is pretty terrible in the view of standard, but when you think about it, it's really not that bad. 5 CMC for a 4/4 is okay, and late game when I finish casting everything in my hand, I can count on a pseudo-giant growth to finish them off, or at least force my opponent to play an instant or something when they wouldn't want to.
Verdict: 5 CMC for a 4/4 with a situational moment to become useful? Sure
