Not to be a jerk, but it doesn't combo with hissing miasma and pyrostatic pillar, those just do semi similar things. If you played this, then during that turn, those cards would be useless. Also, this doesn't stop storm, because storm copies the spells, it doesn't play them again. Furthermore, you can still cast spells with this on the stack, so any instants can be played before this resolves. Despite that, it is a very good card, and with it's more recent counterpart silence, there could be a viable deck with these and Isochron Scepter and maybe some permission for the spells that seep through at instant speed.

This does work with Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir and Isochron Scepter, due to Teferi's Oracle ruling.

It's worth noting that this targets a player and that silence does not. In some sense this is more powerful in general, but it's a lot easier to counter and to block because it has to target a person. Silence doesn't care about anything on the field unless it's a counter-target spell/instant.

This is still generally better, but strictly better it isn't. It's not the same rules text; it doesn't function the same; so it's not comparable in the sense of "Strictly".

@GainsBanding
That's not true. This must resolve to stop storm. Now, it IS true that you can eat up their dark rituals, but I personally don't use those for my storm count as I'm a Brain Freeze guy. I just do high tide shenanigans. The most you'll eat of mine before I either quit for the turn or just combo anyway is something like a snap or a high tide. Indeed useful, but often not enough to really stop a combo.

The difference between this and time walk is with this your opponent is allowed to untap, and can still play activated abilities. Comparable, but time walk is better.
