I am sad that this wasn't reprinted in M13, but if it were, it'd be super gold in limited (rather than the normal gold it was before).

That's mostly because Incinerate wasn't reprinted either. Mind you, it would've probably been if Cudgel Troll was.

Well, I know one creature who isn't going to be happy about facing Incinerate instead of Lightning Bolt.

After reading these comments I don't know how to feel...

When I read about regeneration being TOO COMPLEX or NOT FLAVORFUL, and the possibility to REPLACE IT with another ability (yes, MaRo said THAT in the post mutantman linked) I shudder... Luckily there are some people who appreciate the greatest abilities in Magic (thanks Corey_bayoudragonfly for quoting banding), this comforts me.

As a long-time player (I started at the very beginning, I could say that I am an "always-time player"), even if not a tournament super-competitive player, I have seen during nineteen years what has become better and what has become worse in this fantastic game.
Completeness and clarity of the rules, to me are the first thing which got better and better in Magic. Now every single ability and keyword is well explained in the Comprehensive Rules, and the most complicated are accompanied by examples. Don't say that there are too complex or not intuitive abilities in Magic; ALL is clari... (see all)

If it depended on people like mutantman, MtG would have the complexity of Pokémon.

I hate that this guy keeps getting reprinted.

Okay, okay, "hate" is too strong a word, but I disapprove. It's regeneration, you see. I don't like it. Regenerating is a clunky, unintuitive ability that does a poor job of matching the intended flavor.

Exhibit A: Why does the creature tap? What purpose does that serve? It increases the complexity of the ability in a totally unnecessary way. I know a lot of people who just forget that bit entirely. I'm pretty sure it's an artifact of the pre-6th Edition days, or something? At any rate, it's added complexity that doesn't improve the gameplay.

Exhibit B: Why do you regenerate before the creature gets injured? That's unintuitive. More like pregeneration, am I right? But seriously, having to use the ability beforehand makes sense for a shield-type flavor, not a heal-your-wounds-type flavor, and certainly not a Drudge Skeletons-type flavor (which Reassembling Skeleton pulled off infinit...
