I like the flavour of this card, but everything else makes me say ugh, the artwork gives the impression that he would be stronger, say a 2/2, which the cost would justify. The upkeep makes me cringe, especially since the activation is white-intensive as well, restricting the potential use of this card.

However, if you remove the upkeep cost, this suddenly becomes a somewhat powerful creature, allowing it to frustrate your opponent quite easily, especially if he has no removal. I would make this a 2/2 with a W upkeep and the same CMC and activation cost. The upkeep cost is necessary considering the activation cost.

Nix the upkeep and make its ability cost one or even two more. Then I would play this without hesitating.

I give it a 2.5 for having a good effect, but overall, not very good. They could have at least have it cost only White. Then it might be alright.

So my friend came up with a casual combo for this one that worked pretty well against mee.. He has a Sun Titan in play, doesnt play the upkeep for this guy, he goes to the graveyard. Sun titan attacks, when hes declared as an attacker haazda shield mate comes back and can defend both the sun titan and any other places he needs to be used

A fun, flavorful idea that just doesn't really seem to pan out, or fit in any decks. Fun for casual play, especially Cube with a heavy white-as-tank element.

I'm not convinced of this card's effectiveness, but it looks AMAZING in foil. Its currently in my mono-white EDH/Commander deck almost solely because I have a foil one, and it looks so great.

Your opponent lets him hang around for a while sucking up your mana and then removes him before attacking, possibly with flare just to humiliate you. But for some reason he keeps popping up in my decks!

Underrated in my opinion. I've had so much trouble with this in the past. It's kind of a Story Circle with legs, but instead of being color-specific you get to target damage from all sources. The drawback is the upkeep cost, but plenty of casual games drag on to the point where you'll have plenty of mana to spend on thisl.
