Well, since black isn't a master in creating mana of any color, the life-loss stands to reason.

@Solidsoldier- that's possibly the most awkward combo ever. Try Vesper Ghoul with Freed from the real, double Bazaar Trader or Donates and Mindslaver instead.
Results may vary.
Also I'd like to note that this would be such a very awesome card if it weren't for the casting cost. 1B would've made a great card, even BB would be sweet. I mean look at the art, look at the flavour text, look at the creature type. It's a zombie frickin druid!
