From personal experiences, I'd rather have this one. My playgroup uses a LOT of instant speed removal and Vines is useless when they're just going to kill it again or have another player do the same.

This is definitely a better card than Vines of Vastwood. Usually Split Second isn't an incredibly impressive ability (just a good one), but here it synergises with the rest of the card perfectly. Whenever you plays Vines of Vastwood you're opening yourself up to be 2-for-1'd by a removal spell, which doesn't happen with this card. That's not to say that it's significantly better, or anything - there are plenty of situations where VoV will be better, but overall I think that this is just better. Plus, it has awesome art.

Not sure if I want Vines of Vastwood or this, Stonewood stops further spells from being cast while Vines has flexibility and lower mana costs
The only thing I hate is the rare slot given for this, Vines is a common, this is at most, an uncommon

Vines of Vastwood dosent have split second. but ya, for 2 less mana and options i'm willing to loose an ability that may or may not be usefull.

The card is perfectly fine at 
. I really couldn't care less if Spike decided to use this in tournaments or not. Anything spike gets his greedy little hands on quintuples in price.

This card can't be countered by spells or activated abilities. Also makes it so it can't be responded to by a Doom Blade or something.
This card is awesome and I have no idea why it's rated under four.
