It may be unnecessary, but I like to run it with Leyline of Anticipation.

@Megapossum
Well, if you're using drakes for competitive play... lol. Still, this is the most versatile drake of its spiky family.
1) It's out of the reach of 1 damage destruction spells so it's harder to clear than a hatchling.
2) 2 mana is harder to keep open than 1. It also punishes your opponent by slowing them down more than leaving 1 mana open would.
3) It does double the damage of hatchling for 1 mana more, 10% of a player's life is a much better chunk than 5%.
4) There are fewer good blue 3 mana fliers than 2 mana fliers, giving this card less valid competition than hatchling has.
And it looks much cooler to boot.

It's a common 3 CMC 2/2 flyer that can act as a slightly lesser mana leak at that crucial counterspell moment.
5/5.

Definitely my favorite drake art. Plus the card is really solid for being a common!

All we need is a decent drake lord and drake tribal could be a real thing.

It's a Wind Drake with a built-in Spell Pierce... Who wouldn't want that?
