And now, of course, combos with Venser.

Combos with Dream Stalker, and can kill planeswalkers. Also has a neat synergy with Cloudstone Curio when used with enchantments like Fists of Ironwood. A ton of saprolings, and a ton of destruction!

I thought the comments were about Venser, Shaper Savant. He works too.

stormkeeper has a good point, since the ability also triggers when it leaves play with time counters on it (and on top of that doesn't even need to be put into the graveyard), this card will just work great with bounce or flickering effects - making it reusable, and without delay.

To everyone who plans on synergizing this with Vedalken Mastermind, this is a great combo, but make sure to cover your weak points if you want to keep it up.
If you want immediate permanent removal and have no other way of bouncing the acid but with your mastermind, consider Oblivion Ring instead. The benefits are that the exiling happens immediately, and you can always go into your repeatable targeted exile strategy whenever your mastermind shows up. Also, the permanents are exiled rather that sacrificed, which means they can't be reanimated with Resurrect effects. The drawbacks are,
1: you have to splash white.
2: you can't wait until the opponent's end step to bounce the ring if you want to exile the permanent forever, you have to return it while its first triggered ability is on the stack. This means your mastermind is going to be that much more vulnerable to removal himself during your opponent's next turn.
3: yo... (see all)

This + vedalken mastermind = good bye undestructible permanents. (including lands)

Not very good removal on its own, but it becomes insane if you can bounce it.

Recently, I started using this card in a blue/white life deck. The bounce strategy for this card works great, especially with some new commons from zendikar and in combination with an ally deck.
However, it is extremely important that you only use it as a support strategy, as it's no good if your opponent is being slowed if that's all you can do.
My deck tries to keep my opponent down while i build up life for Test of Endurance or Celestial Convergence or Storm Herd.
My general concencus is, this card makes for great control decks, but should generally be employed as a support strategy.
