This is actually an exceedingly good card, even when compared to cards like Sudden Spoiling and Snakeform. Each of these 3 cards have their own pros and cons compared to each other.
Sudden Spoiling
Pros:
—turns ALL creatures a target player controls
—split second, blocking out response spells
Cons:
—turns creatures into 2 toughness, which can be annoying if you can only ping them for 1 damage and not kill them (assuming that's what you want to do in the first place)
Snakeform
Pros:
—turns the creature GREEN until end of turn, which can take away many restrictions and open up possibilities (including 'non-color' restrictions)
—you get to draw a card as an instant as well
Cons:
—gives the creature 1 power, which can still do damage (even as low as it may be)
—it's very costly for a spell with only 1 target
Ovinize
Pros:
—lower mana cost than others
—turns a creature into the weakest possible creature, at 0/1, which is absolutely no threat in a... (see all)

Clearly World of Warcraft inflence here.
Nice card for sideboarding. Usually an easier way to get rid of something though.

Snakeform is better, since you draw a card for only 1 mana more.
And isn't card advantage what is always talked about in Magic?

So, my brother and I were paying last night, and he used this on one of my creatures. That creature also had an enchantment that gave him +0/+2, and an equipment that gave him +3/+0, lifelink, and trample. We weren't sure how to handle it, so we just let the creature be 0/1 with no abilities, but then had the enchantment and equipment still apply. After we talked about it, we decided that it made sense that Ovinize should probably nullify the enchantment as well, but the equipment should be left untouched.
I couldn't find anything in the rules about how exactly the abilities/bonuses from an aura are added to a creature, so I didn't know if they should be overridden. Any ideas? Either way. What a fun card!
