I was playing Commander with my Animar, Soul of Elements deck. My opponent activated Balthor the Defiled with many black creatures in his graveyard. In response, I discarded Magmatic Force to my Wild Mongrel and cast Repopulate on my opponent. He didn't win that one.

In EDH where most people don't run sideboards, it's generally extremely important to be able to hose graveyards in the maindeck due to how powerful and abusive graveyard recursion strategies are. Now, the biggest problem with graveyard hosers, is that they are super on or super off. With this it's all upside, either a) this card is good, you cast it and blow them out b)this card does nothing, you cycle it and go deeper in your deck and are a turn closer to drawing into the cards you need. Yeah, this only hits creatures but, it's instant speed and never a dead card. It also has the added bonus of being able to "gain life" against a dedicated mill deck.

My buddy Anthony plays a bunch of reanimator decks in EDH, and he hates me for playing this card.
Anthony: "I cast Twilight's Call! hahaha!"
Me: "I repopulate your creatures back into your deck, so only I get my dudes back"
Works every time.
