In graveyard-based decks the Bazaar is more efficient. If you want card selection, use Merfolk Looter.

Everyone who rated this card lower than 3.5, stop being a fool. If you're looking at TIME SPIRAL block cards, out of every other set, you should be thinking about old school, I mean OLD SCHOOL Magic. If there is one thing that trying to understand Old School Magic has taught me, it is that "Game Zone: Graveyard" is broken in half. Egregiously so. I'd bet money that discarding three of your own cards is actually better than drawing two. The 'in the right deck' argument is true of all off-beat strategies, but the Graveyard-based ones have proven themselves enough to not be considered off-beat at all anymore. That's just what you're supposed to do. This card is screaming 'BREAK ME!' at the top of its lungs louder than almost any other in the game. Except maybe One With Nothing.

Nearly every card in Time Spiral block was a throwback to at least one previously printed card.
This card references Bazaar of Baghdad and is part of the "Magus" super cycle of rare creatures. The cards in Planar Chaos all reference one of the most powerful lands ever; the others are Magus of the Tabernacle, Magus of the Coffers, Magus of the Arena, and Magus of the Library.
The Time Spiral part of the cycle focuses on powerful artifacts: Magus of the Candelabra, Magus of the Disk, Magus of the Mirror, Magus of the Jar, and Magus of the Scroll. The Future Sight part of the cycle focuses on powerful enchantments: Magus of the Moat, Magus of the Future, Magus of the Abyss, autocard... (see all)

Fun with dredge, though obviously not as efficient as the Bazaar of Baghdad. Why doesn't it cost U? WHY? First turn magus would be so broken in my reanimation deck.

Dropping Bazaar of Baghdad doesn't "waste" your land drop in a dredge deck. It is an uncounterable dredge engine that is tappable the moment it hits the battlefield, and therefore it is in fact the best single land drop you can ever make. The ability to use the magus as a blocker or to equip him with things that let him tap multiple times is totally irrelevant--in the time it takes you to do any of that stuff, you mind as well have just been playing Bazaar, because you'd have won the game already. The argument that this guy is better for "other decks" is invalid, too, because just about every deck in Magic that isn't dredge and reanimator wants things in their hand, not in their graveyard, and for that this guy is pure card disadvantage.
In summary, decks that play from the graveyard (ie dredge/reanimator) should use Bazaar of Baghdad over this guy, because Bazaar doesn't die as easily, it's free, and it activates the turn it c... (see all)

Can Bazaar of Baghdad chump-block in a pinch, or be tapped by a Patron Wizard, or be sacced by a Voidmage Prodigy? Can Pemmin's Aura or Crab Umbra allow Bazaar of Baghdad to work multiple times in a turn?
The original Bazaar may be somewhat more useful for the kinds of decks that you prefer to build, but Magus of the Bazaar has enough potential advantages over it that it is undoubtedly better for other types of decks.
