Just realised that you can get around its drawback by using Aether Vial. Very nice card.

@SgtSwagger: It never hits the battlefield if you can't reveal a Merfolk or pay . You must be able to do either to even cast it.

Creatures on the cheap with card advantage are awesome. When you also make them 2/1, they get even more sick. See Dark Confidant. My ideal series of plays are on the play turn 1 land Vial, turn two land Adept, counter something on their turn with a Daze, then lay down a Standstill or Lord of Atlantis and start bringing the beats.
That two power is just insane. With twelve lords in the deck, it can either be a powerhouse that bashes face, or an easy trade for something more valuable to your opponent, while you retain the card advantage off of it's cantrip.

Best non-lord 2 drop for merfolk aggro bar none.

If you dont pay 3 or reveal a Merfolk, do you sacrifice this?

Wich one is better to use with Familiar's Ruse? Silvergill Adept or Sea Gate Oracle?

With a banneret and 2 reejereys, this guy is a net gain of mana for the turn. Very useful, and has some power to back it up.

I <3 this card. It replaces itself, can hit for 2, and fits into a merfolk deck perfectly.

Its like an elvish visionary on steroids, with a "drawback" that just keeps it in tribal.

Drawback? What drawback? I see a cantripping 2/1 and nothing else.
