@alucard311
Landwalk wouldn't have fit the flavor at all. Plus, against hybrid this is way better than a Hill Giant, especially for its colors. Much better for Limited to be fair, though.

@alucard311: My thought is that this a very limited centered card. If someone is heavily dipping into one color (very easy to do with hybrids) you can squeeze these in to punish them. It's own hybrid nature makes it a bit more flexible. This one is probably one of the better ones with green normally holding strong in sealed play, and blue having the ability to change the color of permanents easily in the Shadowmoor set.

In short, these were feasible limited 4 drops. Think of how fast the power creep would be if they decided not make filers like this.

Why they felt the need for an entire cycle of substandard 3/3s with abilities that should have just been landwalk has never been made clear to me.

Would it really be overpowered if it was unblockable? It would be good, but I'd say pretty fairish...

Remember, Shadowmoor has a hybrid cost theme. let's say my opponent is playing a White/Blue deck, and decided to put Elvish Hexhunter in it because he can. Maybe I don't have artifacts, so our hexhunter is left as a chump blocker. But what's this? He can't block my attacking Rootcutters, because, although there are no forests under his control, Elvish Hexhunter is still green. Ergo, in Shadowmoor, this is (Marginally) better than landwalk.

I still would have liked protection.

This is one of those cards like Orzhov Guildmage, where the art really makes me want to play it but it just isn't useful enough.
