Yeah, it has a cost. But still, this card is amazing. If you are using it correctly, you'll be getting back cards like Primeval Titan so that you won't be losing out on lands, or you'll just be getting back a few fatties and winning the game. It isn't even hard:
T1: Forest, Elves of Deep Shadow
T2: Swamp, Buried Alive
T3: This
T4: Get back two of the creatures. If you chose well (e.g Kiki-Jiki and Pestermite or just 2x It That Betrays), you will have won before you notice the life/land loss.
This is easily a 5/5.
(p.s. If you're afraid of removal, make the third creature an Avacyn, Angel of Hope.)

At least it's cheap to get out and repeatable.
You'd just have to find a creature you really want to keep dying and coming back.
