I think part of the problem with this card is it as a bad card to flip while clashing if your deck has more clash effects or if another one of these flips one.

As for the Bloodchief Ascension idea, considering you are running black for the Ascension to start with, these days it seems like you would usually just play Psychic Strike for the consistent two mill and consistent counter.

Its got nice art and it isn't too bad but I think its niche is sadly better used by other cards.

The best counter spell for any mill deck. Not only do you stop their spells, you also shred their deck.
